EA connection issues: check the right connection first

Separate the broker connection, Gold EA communication and trading permissions before changing your setup.

Start with the current message

A connection warning is a starting point, not a diagnosis. MT5 connects to your broker, while Gold EA also communicates with its own service. Trading permissions form a third check. A problem in one area does not tell you the state of the other two.

Before restarting or changing settings, write down the exact message, where you saw it and its time. Check whether the issue is still present. If you received disconnected and reconnected emails close together, keep both timestamps; the sequence is more useful than the subject of one older email.

1. Check the broker connection

MT5's status bar includes a server connection indicator. Review it and confirm you are in the intended account. If the terminal cannot connect, check the account number and broker server against your account details. Account-login problems belong to this connection check, before any assumptions about the EA.

Review the broker's current instrument session if prices appear still. Market Watch's symbol specification includes trading-session information. A quiet chart alone cannot establish that Gold EA is disconnected. Record the full symbol, including any broker suffix, when asking for help.

2. Check Gold EA's connection separately

Compare the account shown in MT5 with the account you are checking in Gold EA. Open the dashboard's Connection doctor and read its current result. Then look for the EA's own message in MT5. A broker connection indicator cannot confirm that a separate Gold EA request succeeded.

If the EA reports a WebRequest problem, compare your trusted URL entry with the installation guide: https://api.goldea.ai. Check the complete address rather than adding several guessed domains. If the message instead refers to the licence or account assignment, keep the exact wording and contact support. Repeatedly switching accounts is not a useful connection test and may affect permanent-slot use.

3. Check whether trading is permitted

MT5 has a platform-wide automated-trading setting and a separate permission for each running EA. Your account or broker can also restrict trading. Review the permission relevant to the reported error rather than switching every option on. An account opened with investor access cannot trade.

A permission problem is different from a communication failure. Equally, a connected EA is not a promise that an order should appear immediately. Avoid changing product parameters simply because no trade has opened. Use the current product instructions and investigate explicit errors first.

4. Read the logs around the event

In MT5's Toolbox, Experts contains messages from EAs and indicators; Journal records platform events. Find the entries around the time of the issue, then copy the relevant message and a few surrounding rows. MT5 log timestamps use your computer's timezone, so include that timezone in your report.

If you need an earlier log, the tab's Open command opens its log folder and saves current entries. Platform logs live in Logs, while EA logs live in MQL5/Logs. Send the relevant excerpt rather than an unrestricted archive containing unrelated account details.

5. Make one change, then check again

After correcting a specific mismatch, check the same message and account again. Record what changed and whether the warning cleared. If the state keeps alternating, note the intervals and whether MT5 stayed open throughout. This gives support a timeline without assuming the source of the interruption.

Include the EA name and version, MT5 build, broker server, masked account number, full chart symbol, timeframe and exact error. Add the dashboard result if it differs from MT5. Hide passwords and the full licence key in every screenshot. If the evidence does not point to a clear correction, send it to support before making further changes to a previously working setup.
