Install Gold EA in MT5: your first-setup checklist

From the correct account and data folder to permissions and connection checks, work through the setup in the right order.

Start with the account you intend to keep

A good installation starts before the EA reaches a chart. Accounts connected during preview become permanent when payment succeeds. On paid access, each new broker server and MT5 account uses a permanent slot. Removing the EA or unlinking does not free it; reconnecting the same server and account reuses it. Check your intended account before entering your licence.

This checklist covers the desktop MT5 terminal. Keep your selected EA's installation guide alongside it, because the approved file, chart symbol and timeframe must match that product. Gold EA's product names are Vision, Breakout and 444; use the guide and download belonging to your purchase.

1. Verify the login and server

Open MT5 and check the account number and broker server against your own account details. To sign in, use File → Login to Trade Account. Investor access is read-only and does not permit trading, even when an EA is attached. Enter account credentials only into the appropriate MT5 login flow; they are not your Gold EA licence key.

2. Put the approved file in this terminal's folder

Download the approved .ex5 file for your selected EA from your Gold EA library. In the MT5 instance you intend to use, choose File → Open Data Folder, then open MQL5 → Experts and place the file there. Starting from MT5 avoids guessing which installation folder belongs to which terminal.

An .ex5 file is the compiled program MT5 runs. Keep the original filename so you can identify the EA and version when requesting help. If the file is absent, blocked or different from the one described in your guide, resolve that before continuing. Do not substitute a file from a forwarded message or an unrelated download.

3. Find the EA and prepare its chart

In Navigator, right-click Expert Advisors and choose Refresh, then locate the installed EA. If it has not appeared, recheck this terminal’s data folder and the approved .ex5 file. Follow the current installation guide before restarting or reinstalling MT5.

Open the broker's gold instrument using the exact symbol and timeframe required by your EA's guide. Do not infer these from another broker's screenshot. MT5 supports one EA per chart; attaching another replaces the first. Double-click the EA in Navigator or drag it onto the intended chart to open its properties.

4. Complete the Gold EA connection settings

Open Tools → Options → Expert Advisors. Enable WebRequest access for the trusted URL https://api.goldea.ai, as specified in the Gold EA setup instructions. In the EA's Inputs, enter your Gold EA licence key in the designated field. Keep that key private and out of screenshots.

Before confirming the properties window, check the active MT5 account again. Do not treat a disabled trading button as a way to test activation without using a slot. An EA can continue running while automated trading is disabled.

5. Check permissions and confirm the setup

When you intend the EA to trade, review its individual trading permission in the Common tab and the platform's Algo Trading or AutoTrading control. Both permission levels matter. Use the labels shown in your MT5 build and your product guide.

Confirm the EA is attached, then review the latest Experts messages and the account's connection information in your Gold EA dashboard. Use Connection doctor to follow up on a reported issue. These checks establish what is connected and permitted; they do not promise when a trade will occur.

If something is unresolved, stop changing unrelated settings. Record the EA name and version, MT5 build, broker server, chart symbol and the exact message you see. That gives support a useful starting point and helps preserve the setup you have already checked.
